Spring 2016 Tour Kickoff
The tour kickoff in California on March 1st was a huge success.  We reached approximately 750 students in two schools.  Here is some feedback from our school contacts in the Los Angeles area:

Thank you so much for the Assembly yesterday! It was a huge success! I wasn’t able to visualize a rock concert around financial literacy until we experienced it and the kids loved it! Thank you! I am cc’ing the leadership for the other two schools on our campus. Hopefully Bernstein and APEX can benefit from your great work. - Paul Hirsch | Principal, STEM Academy Helen Bernstein Academy

In terms of what we think about the GOODING presentation, I'd like to share comments from two students:
One student commented that when she first saw the poster, she thought the mix of rock music and financial literacy would either be really odd, or really awesome.  And it turned out to be really awesome.
Another student was so inspired that she wanted to buy the GOODING CD to support this cause.  When she was handed a CD as a gift from Steven Gooding, she took out her wallet and said she wants to donate money to what these wonderful people are doing.

The impression about the event was quite unanimous - everyone who experienced it said they were impressed, moved or inspired. This event has truly surpassed our expectation in every possible way.  Based on a show of hands at the event, the majority of the students who attended have never learned financial planning.  They were exactly the audience we wanted to attract, and we are hopeful that this event will leave a good impression that motivates them to learn more. – Jenny Resnick, Associate Professor, Accounting, Business Department Santa Monica College

Community Arts Network Meeting
While in Los Angeles, I also attended the Arts Community Network meeting hosted by the Los Angeles Unified School District.  The purpose of the meeting was to introduce prospective grantees to their RFP process and give us a chance to meet the key people we will be working with.  They gave us great tips on important things to include in the proposal.  The RFP for the 2016-17 school year will be released in the next month.
